Funding

The project is funded by a NSF Expeditions in Computing grant (through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act), with $10M over a period of five years. NSF Expeditions are awarded on a very competitive basis, and only to projects enabling groundbreaking, lasting discoveries in computing. NSF recognizes that such discoveries are often the result of combined advances in multiple research fields. The funding level is thus motivated by the need of having multidisciplinary research teams working together toward a common objective.
